Next Steps to Becoming an Independent Prescriber

You must have completed a foundation course at least one year before applying to the independent prescribing course

Apply to your university. Spaces for the Independent Prescriber course are very competitive across every University so apply early.

Whether you require input to achieve the hours clinical practice, competency sign off or both elements, I am here to support you in achieving them all.

50% is required at the point of application.  The remaining fees will be due on offer from the chosen University.  50% upfront fees are non-refundable but are essential due to PIN numbers being required for applications. However we will complete up to five applications. 

You will need to have an enhanced DBS check in the last 3 years before applying. Rejuven8 skin clinic can support you with this also.

The following support will be provided:

  • The learning program will offer opportunities for trainees to achieve their learning objectives and gain prescribing competency.

  • Dedicated time and opportunities will be provided for trainees to observe patient consultations and develop management plans.

  • Trainees will have the opportunity to conduct consultations and propose clinical management and prescribing options.

  • Structured support systems will be in place to ensure the integration of theory with practice.

  • In-depth discussion and analysis of clinical management will be provided using a random case analysis approach.

  • Our experienced tutor provide support and mentorship during clinical training days where you will work alongside them on the prescribing element of the course and achieve learning outcomes relevant to your specific needs. As well as this, you can have dedicated one on one mentoring on facial anatomy, advanced Botox and Dermal Filler procedures and learn about the wide range of drugs that you will be able to prescribe on completion of the training and what they can be used for.

  • Collaboration with other medical professionals will be established for additional student support.

  • At the end of the course, the trainee’s practical ability to assume the prescribing role will be assessed and verified.
